Who we are

Dudes and Divas Nursery School is an early childhood development centre providing care and education for babies, toddlers and Grade R children. We are committed to keeping your personal and your child’s information safe and confidential. This notice explains how we collect, use and protect the information of parents, guardians and learners, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What information we collect

Parent / guardian names, contact numbers, email addresses and residential addresses.
Child’s full name, date of birth, medical information and any special needs.
Emergency contact details and authorised persons for collection.
Payment and billing information required for school fees.
Photos and videos of children taken during school activities (with consent).
Communication records, such as WhatsApp messages or emails related to school matters.

How we use your information

To enrol your child and maintain accurate school records.
To communicate with parents / guardians about daily activities, events and emergencies.
To monitor your child’s development and provide appropriate care.
To process payments for school fees and other services.
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Photo and video consent

From time to time, we may take photos or short videos of children during school activities, outings or special events. These may be shared with parents in class groups or used in school newsletters or marketing material.

We will only use photos or videos of your child if you have given consent on the registration form.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, in writing, and we will stop using your child’s image in future material.
We will not post identifiable photos of children on public social media pages without specific, separate consent.

WhatsApp and electronic communication

We may use WhatsApp groups, email or SMS to share important information with parents and guardians, such as reminders, notices and photos of class activities.

Class WhatsApp groups are used only for school-related communication.
We encourage respectful and appropriate communication at all times.
If you no longer wish to receive communication via WhatsApp, please inform us so that we can make alternative arrangements.

How we store and protect your information

Paper records are kept in locked cabinets on the school premises.
Electronic records are stored on password-protected devices and accounts.
Only authorised staff have access to personal information on a need-to-know basis.
We will not sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share information with doctors, emergency services or relevant authorities if required in an emergency or by law.

Your rights

To ask what personal information we hold about you or your child.
To correct or update any inaccurate or incomplete information.
To withdraw consent for optional uses of information, such as photos.
To object to certain processing where allowed by law, or to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been infringed.
